Splitting an invoice
Equal, percentage or fixed shares between co-defendants.
A split invoice divides one bill between several payers — co-defendants, or an insurer covering part of it.
Choose equal shares, percentages that must total exactly 100%, or fixed amounts that must add up to the invoice total exactly. A split that does not reconcile is refused rather than quietly absorbed.
On an equal split the remainder cents go to the first payer, so three ways on $1,000 is 333.34, 333.33 and 333.33 — the copies always add back up to the invoice.
Each payer gets their own PDF showing only their share, their balance and their own payment history, plus an independent follow-up reminder. Download them individually, or all at once as a zip.
Once sent, a single payer’s share cannot be edited on its own: the split was calculated as a whole, so a correction means voiding and reissuing.
