Invoicing & payments
Generating an invoice
Picking the work, applying credit, and the confirmation step.
Invoices are built from unbilled time and expenses on one case. Pick the case, review what is there, uncheck anything you want to hold back, and generate.
CREDIT IS APPLIED AT GENERATION
Any unapplied advance on the case is offered on this screen. Credit is drawn only at the moment the invoice is created — an advance recorded afterwards cannot attach itself to an invoice that already exists. That keeps a sent invoice’s arithmetic fixed at the moment it was sent.
A partially consumed advance is split: $5,000 of credit against a $1,200 invoice draws $1,200 and leaves $3,800 available.
THE CONFIRMATION BOX
You have to tick that you have reviewed the entries and amounts. It is the last point at which a wrong rate, a duplicate entry or the wrong case can be fixed cheaply — after sending, the only correction is void and reissue.
